Joan Shelley will release the self-titled follow up to her critically acclaimed 2015 LP Over and Even on 5 May before heading out on a UK and Ireland tour in spring including at date at London’s The Lexington.

The album was recorded at The Loft in Chicago in collaboration with Jeff Tweedy. Along with longtime guitarist Nathan Salsburg, this time Jeff Tweedy, Spencer Tweedy and James Elkington will accompany Shelley on eleven new songs.

‘Wild Indifference’ is out now as one of NPR‘s ‘Songs We Love’ along with an interview with Joan here: http://www.npr.org/2017/03/06/518314478/songs-we-love-joan-shelley-wild-indifference

Joan said of ‘Wild Indifference’ – “If I had my way, every song would eventually lead to empathy. Music can take you out of your head and into your body and heart, where there’s more opportunity for empathy and a de-escalation of the dramas we make for ourselves. That’s part of the path of this one. The song is addressed to another person but circles back inward.”

Over and Even was an album of the year at NPR Music and was a five star Daily Telegraph folk album of the year saying, “Joan Shelley has a rich voice that ebbs and flows, and brings out the deftest emotions of her strikingly well-written songs”.

Shelley will be touring Ireland and the UK this spring including a performance at London’s The Lexington on 8 May. She’ll also be performing in the US supporting with Wilco and Richard Thompson.

Joan Shelley is available for pre-order on CD/LP here and digital here.
