“Machine Dreams is a step into a world of multi-hued musical possibilities” 4/5 Mojo
“Superb second album… it’s magic” Dazed & Confused
“It’s not easy to pull off cerebral dance music… everything shimmers beguilingly” Sunday Times
“One of the most unique electronic outfits to emerge from the deluge of synth-touting eighties nostalgics" The Sun
“One listen to Machine Dreams confirms that beneath the sweeping, scattershot electronic/analogue approach, Little Dragon’s heart beats faster than ever” 4/5 Mixmag
“Machine Dreams sees Little Dragon ditch their former ways in favour of a taut electro funk which falls somewhere between the nightmare electronics of Fever Ray and prime Prince… The result is an album packed with highlights that will light up the summer nights” Music Week
“Like Hot Chip partying with Madonna… Machine Dreams hovers this close to genius” 8/10 Clash
“Electronic pop gems with a distinctly Prince finish… in the running for album of the year!” Kruger

Little Dragon return with new single ‘My Step’ on 7 December. This also heralds their last London date of 2009 at the Rhythm Factory on the same day. With musical luminaries such as Damon Albarn and The Bug in attendance at their last London outing, word seems to be spreading for this unique Swedish collective. The band just finished touring the US, culminating with a Halloween show for KCRW in LA, sharing the bill with the likes of DJ Shadow. They’ve also been in the studio collaborating with David Sitek, the results of which should be due out next year.

The album highlight ‘My Step’ combines Prince style machine-funk with the twitchy electronics of fellow Swedes The Knife. With a solid drumbeat that nestles next to jagged and playful synthlines, the track breaks down into motorik propulsion with a scuzzy techno bassline that Yukimi works with ease. The B-side is ‘Looking Glass’ - with its massive snare and fidgety synths, it’s no wonder the likes of Wendy Melvoin (of Prince & The Revolution) are huge fans.

With disparate influences from Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem to James Holden, Dancehall to R&B, Jazz and Soul, Little Dragon take their place among artists who straddle many genres, yet somehow create their own.
