In June Bedouine released her self-titled debut album via Spacebomb Records to widespread critical acclaim including a 5/5 The Independentalbum review and features everywhere from Uncut and the Sunday Times to The FADER and Stereogum. She also went on to play a two night residency at London’s The Islington (“A wandering star is born”, ★★★★ –
The Observer) and toured the UK and Europe alongside Matthew E. Whiteand Michael Kiwanuka.

Today following the success of the album, Bedouine has announced today she is releasing a special deluxe edition which features two new tracks including ‘Louise’, a beautiful new track sung entirely in Armenian and ‘Deep Space’ which she shares today ahead of the release.

Read Bedouine’s description of the tracks below:

“‘Louise’ is a song about conviction. The impetus was pondering the difficult decision a family makes during wartime, to stay or to leave and seek refuge. I caught myself being a critic of people that were risking their lives to stay home but the more I thought about it the more I sympathised and even wondered if I would make a similar decision.”

“I wrote ‘Deep Space’ in an airplane during an exchange with my neighbour. He worked in the Marshall Islands to maintain the satellites for deep space. As he was explaining it, I thought, ‘Wow, this is fantastic,’ and started logging in these verses bit by bit in my mind. Eventually I went to the airplane bathroom to draft an audio recording of it. I used ‘Deep Space’ as an analogy for when you push yourself past the limits of your comfort knowing well it could be as rewarding as it is frightening.”

Bedouine has a story to match the name. Azniv Korkejian, born in Aleppo, Syria to Armenian parents, spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia, moving to America when her family won a Green Card lottery. Living at various times in Boston, Houston, Lexington, Austin, and Savannah, she eventually found a community of musicians in Los Angeles that feels like home. One day she walked into the studio of bass Gus Seyffert to inquire about portable reel-to-reel tape machines and ended up cutting ‘Solitary Daughter’ in a first take.
