As Cayucas, band leader Zach Yudin has created a sound steeped in his sunny California roots, each track a perfectly crafted pop zinger. His catchy, addictive melodies are buoyed by syncopated rhythms and a breezy chorus of vocals. The ‘Cayucos’ 7″ (backed with the organ-laced ‘Swimsuit’) is just the first taster of what’s to come from Cayucas. Yudin has been working with producer Richard Swift (The Shins and solo artist of repute) on his full-length album. Of the signing, Yudin says, “I am really happy to sign with Secretly Canadian. I think it’s a perfect fit. I’ve been a fan of many of the artists on SC for a long time, so it’s pretty crazy to be considered one and the same. I hope Cayucas can bring something fun & exciting to the label.”

Nolan Wilson Goff directed the Wes Anderson indebted clip. He points out, “Cayucos has an awesome, summer sun vibe. It’s a nice golden tan, not a sunburn.” The clip he created stars band leader Zach Yudin (Sea Captain) and his twin brother/band member Ben Yudin (Straw Hat) alongside actors Perry Mattfeld, Garrett Bales, and Sam Livingstone. The video was shot on location at Corona Del Mar Beach and in scenic Whittier, CA. As Goff says, “The video has some fun characters and is a throwback to the timelessness of the beach and the people you share such a fond place with.”
