It’s been almost three years since DIANA released their critically-acclaimed LP, Perpetual Surrender. Now, the wait for new material has come to an end with the upcoming release of their second album Familiar Touch, out 18th November via Culvert/ILS/Caroline. After sharing the album’s opening track ‘Confession‘ as well as ‘Slipping Away‘, they’re now releasing ‘What You Get’.
‘What You Get’ is a slow-burning torch song that builds gradually from a spare drum machine and synthesiser pulse before expanding texturally, becoming bigger, fuller and far more open and expansive while retaining the gorgeous qualities found throughout Perpetual Surrender.
Speaking about the track, the band’s Kieran Adams says: “I started writing ‘What You Get’ after a conversation Carmen and I had on a ferry from Ireland to Wales towards the end of touring Perpetual Surrender. She told me she was thinking about the idea of deservedness i.e. people’s expectations around what their efforts or intentions might yield. On the post-ferry van ride I made a very basic track in Ableton and came up with the chorus for the song.”
Familiar Touch is released 18 November via Culvert/ILS/Caroline and is available to pre-order here.
