James Holden reveals new video for ‘Renata’

Ahead of the release of his first full length in seven years James Holden has revealed the video for ‘Renata’. The second cut to be taken from The Inheritors album, released 17 June, ‘Renata’s polyrhythms, coiled spring energy and fluid ebbing synths now have a visual accompaniment courtesy of Will Samuel and Jack Featherstone, who is also responsible for the album’s artwork.

The single, due out digitally and as a special edition marbled grey 10” on 10 June, comes with two cracking remixes. First from the venerable Daphni, who lends a typically expansive and aquatic-garage version, with added distorted vocals and echoes of Herbert circa Bodily Functions. Classy as ever. The second comes from American synth maestro and electronic producer Steve Moore from Zombi, whose mix takes things to a more minimal and wondrous place.

The Inheritors’ album is due out on 17 June via Holden’s own Border Community label.

James Holden has a string of all night sets lined up across Europe this summer.
