Following the release of their debut album Fenceline in April, Mildred have today shared new single ‘Bird Laugh’, a live favourite from their recent US tour supporting Naima Bock whose melody always stayed floating around in the air long after the shows were over, here it is at last recorded so it can be played over and over.
Along with the single Mildred have also announced a full UK tour in November this year which includes Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and a show at London’s The Ivy House which sold out straight away, leading to the addition of a matinee show which did exactly the same. Following the full selling out of both the first black vinyl press of their debut album as well as the limited DINKED edition, Mildred have also today announced a limited repress of the album will be available on ‘Civil Twilight Amber’ in the UK on 18 September and a limited second-pressing ‘Aquinal Blue’ vinyl in the US due in October with pre-orders live now.
A band made up of four songwriters, ‘Bird Laugh’’s lyrics were written by Jack Schrott who says:
“Wrote this song after a tour on the west coast. I was thinking about a snow storm we got stuck in. I think the song is about resigning yourself to something. Some things you can’t fight, like snow falling. And sometimes the things you resign yourself to are the most beautiful things, like snow.”
‘Bird Laugh’ comes as a part of a AA-side single set with its companion to follow.
