Having previously announced her gutsy and gorgeous new album Puberty 2 – out 17 June 2016 via Dead Oceans – with the tremendously received ‘Your Best American Girl‘, Mitski has shared another stunning track from the record – ‘Happy’ – as well as new run of live dates.

Coming off the back of a sold out and rapturously received London show (“her person alone provides all the energy a show could possibly require”, said London in Stereo), ‘Happy’ is the biting opening track to Puberty 2 – a song that quickly escalates from intricate electronic pads to rumbling drums and a rare use of horns.

Of the track, Mitski says: “Happiness fucks you. Once it’s in your hands you try to hold onto it, but the nature of happiness is that it passes through and eventually leaves, and something else – sadness, anger, a low after the high – has to follow. This song is about this exhaustive and exhausting cycle, and how sometimes one would rather not have any of it at all than be constantly thrown about by the waves of these fleeting states.”

Mitski has also announced a brand new set of live dates for later this year, with which she’ll be bringing a full band to Europe for the first time – including a new London date at Dome Tufnell Park.
