Phosphorescent’s Matthew Houck new album C’est La Vie will be released 5 October via Dead Oceans. So far he has shared lead single ‘New Birth In New England‘ and ‘Christmas Down Under‘. Today he has followed up with the final single to be shared ahead of it’s release on Friday. Debuting via Beats1 ‘World’s First’, ‘C’est La Vie No. 2’ is anchored by his famously frayed, unmistakably intimate voice. Houck radiates a measured, newfound confidence as he reckons with the void between individual purpose and cosmic insignificance.
C’est La Vie, the first Phosphorescent album in five years, is the highly anticipated follow-up to Houck’s acclaimed 2013 LP Muchacho. It chronicles a life-altering period during which he fell in love, battled life threatening illness, started a family, relocated from New York to Nashville, and built a new studio from the ground up.
Phosphorescent kicks off an extensive European tour next month, with a full list of dates below.
